In our efforts to expand our programs statewide, our goal is to provide additional tech education opportunities outside of the metro area to teens and young adults between the ages of 13-18.

As of last year, we have launched our tech education program in St. Cloud and currently provide tech courses to the students in the St. Cloud school district area. We also plan to launch our tech readiness programs to students in the Wilmar and Rochester school district areas.

Due to the large immigrant populations in St. Cloud, Wilmar, and Rochester, there has been a need to bring tech education and tech readiness courses to the students within these communities. Many of the students in these communities come from low socio-economic backgrounds, therefore making it more difficult for them to access free tech education programs at school. Our courses have multiple levels for beginners to advanced coders and our curriculum is school based. At New Vision, we understand that there is a high demand for our programs to expand into minority communities and provide our digital literacy and coding classes to students across the state. This is why we have made it our mission to create as many opportunities as possible for tech education accessibility to disadvantaged youth. We aim to create a positive impact across many communities within our expansion.

In the first phase of our expansion, we partnered with the St. Cloud school district to have their pilot tech readiness summer program through New Vision for middle school students. In the second component of the program, we implemented the after-school tech program which includes the Intro to Web Design course for middle school students. As the school year comes to an end, we have already prepared to have summer courses available to students to resume their tech education. In the fall of 2022, Web Design courses will resume for middle school students. Additionally, we have added a new Intro to Web Development course for high school students in St. Cloud this upcoming fall.

We are building relationships with our school district partners across the state and we anticipate that more districts will realize the need for tech programs in their schools. We aim to provide our courses and resources to as many students as possible by making IT education more accessible for disadvantaged students. Essentially, the schools and us have a common goal, which is to create successful pathways for students who can utilize the IT skills they learn now to prepare for future career opportunities.
