Pathfinder Spotlight: Tamir Rice’s Journey Through Our Software Engineering Bootcamp
We had the chance to connect with Tamir Rice, a student in our second Software Engineering Bootcamp cohort, known as the Pathfinders. She shared insights about her journey to our program and her aspirations for the future—here's what she had to say.
What inspired you to join this coding bootcamp?
I joined the bootcamp because I was ready to finally dive deep into a career choice. And I love tech! I've honestly struggled with choosing a career that I will find satisfaction in. There's satisfaction in solving problems and being creative. I'm considered a jack-of-all-trades to those close to me. When I find interest in something, my goal is always to understand it in its entirety and conquer it. And it usually doesn't take long for me to understand anything, which can honestly get boring. But when it comes to coding, every problem is unique and there are so many ways to go about solving them. I never feel as though I'm going to understand everything, because there's always something new to learn. No way I can get bored doing this!
What’s your dream job in the tech industry?
My dream job would be to work with one of my favorite game studios on their next big project. I really admire FromSoftware. Their finished products are always a work of art, and I really love their company practices. Very professional, and serious, and caring environment from what I've read about them in articles.
What does success look like for you after this bootcamp?
My level of success is determined by what I can accomplish, and the knowledge I hold. Already, what I've learned so far feels so transformative. So success looks like learning more languages and creating more projects. After this bootcamp I plan on freelancing until I find the perfect position for me and my family.
What’s your go-to motivational quote or mantra?
My dad is a certified life coach, he has many things that he says to me that I hold close, that keeps me on the right track. I say this one in my head all the time: "Energy flows where focus goes."
